TGL(Technical Group Lead)

(Other catchy titles: Lead Maintenance Technician)

The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking a Technical Group Lead to work at our processing facility in Avon- NY.  Ideal candidates must be safety and quality orientated and be willing to work in a team orientated- fast paced work environment. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This job requires flexibility to work first- second- and/or third shift- weekends- and holidays.
  • Minimum of 2 (two) years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Required to pass job qualification criteria for position that includes- but is not limited to- mechanical skills testing
  • Must be able to perform and train self/others on basic mechanical and electrical skills- mechanical repairs- electrical repairs- and overhauls- maintenance systems- computer skills- new technologies in preventive/predictive maintenance- problem solving/troubleshooting- etc. where skills are not at the required level
  • Experience with PLC- VFD- and servo troubleshooting and repairs preferred.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills- leadership abilities and effective planning
  • Must be Powered Industrial Truck licensed and follow all safety rules and procedures

Benefits & Compensation Overview:

  • Pay range from $21.40 up to $28.04/hour- plus:
    • A $.30 shift differential for those who working on second.
    • A $.40 shift differential for those who working on third shift.

  • Ammonia systems size is approximately 95-000 lbs.
  • 493-000 sq. ft. production space on a 67 acre site.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Knowledgeable and capable of performing sanitation- line setup- start-up- adjustment and operation of equipment- proper shutdown & changeover as required to Kraft Heinz standards and to minimize downtime
  • Perform all required quality testing/checks and complete all required documentation for line operations: Quality (Quality Suites)- Sanitation- Safety- etc.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of all equipment- planned and unplanned
  • Assist Maintenance Leads with basic electrical equipment troubleshooting and maintain/improve electrical control systems
  • Utilize maintenance windows to coordinate routine and non-routine activities on assigned equipment in order to ensure safety- product quality and optimum line efficiency. Will work across shifts and functions as needed to effectively operate as a team
  • Complete and document preventive maintenance inspections on assigned line as assigned by the Maintenance Lead. Recommend and implement continuous improvement on equipment/systems design
  • Ability to lead and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process to prevent reoccurring equipment failures. This will include driving completion of all agreed upon actions identified in RCFA.
  • Utilize SAP and other systems to document maintenance activities- order parts when applicable- assist in the scheduling and development of work orders
  • Recording and documentation as required by manual- computer and other systems. Ensures documentation is accurately completed using QCMS guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with Kraft Heinz quality rules

Leadership Job Responsibilities:

  • Holds team accountable to high standards across Safety- Quality- Cost- Delivery and Morale
  • Ensure the team is organized and focused on the right business priorities at all times and provide continuity between shifts.
  • Lead Level 1 meetings- develop and owns plan for the shift that align with expected results for your area of responsibility- set direction for team and support team members where needed
  • Lead the execution of the plan during the shift including pit stops- loss elimination and OSCAR process.
  • Coordinate labor coverage with Supervisor and Shift Lead- including overtime coverage
  • Lead point of contact on technical projects in work area- interface with engineering on success criteria and vertical startup
  • Maintain a good working relationship with associates on all shifts within all departments- while supporting plant and departmental goals and vision
  • Train/Coach associates in area of responsibility on operations and technical understanding of equipment
  • Meet regularly with team members to share observations and identify help needed
  • Provide corrective actions and recommendations for improvements to the process
  • Manages administrative processes such as vacation scheduling- etc.
  • Manage sanitation and housekeeping activities and validate effectiveness
  • Check all paperwork for compliance
  • Reports and corrects unsafe acts and conditions. Recommends corrective action when necessary
  • Assist in product sequencing to minimize changeover time
  • Conform to all Kraft Heinz policies and procedures
  • All other duties as assigned by management in order to support efficient plant operations
