Description & Requirements

This position will support the Canada Zone based in Glenview- IL. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the Nutrition Label Reform initiative for Canada- and involves strategy- specification leadership and contractor management.  This includes being the point of liaison between product developers- specification managers and analysts- suppliers- quality- marketing- regulatory and food safety for the creation of the specification- designing and executing specification building plans- analyzing data- drawing conclusions- documenting and communicating results.  Communication and organizational skills are essential in this role- which operates in a dynamic and cross-functional environment. The candidate must also have a technical background and be able to apply prior learning or scientific principles to new situations. This position requires an individual to manage multiple assignments and tasks concurrently with moderate levels of supervisor guidance. Exhibiting a collaborative mindset and applying ownership are a must.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will interact with suppliers on a day to day basis to obtain nutritional information and will incorporate into our specification system.
  • Candidate will be required to execute and lead others to execute specification development from raw and packaging materials- product formulations- packaging specs and configurations. Requires knowledge of Agile GSM and NPD 
  • Must maintain/repair/own raw material- product and formula specifications and lead specification creation initiatives that deliver consistent- high-quality products.
  • Maintain a strong- effective relationship with the Spec analysts- Spec managers- Regulatory- Food Safety- Marketing and Sales teams.
  • Be an expert in managing and maintaining specifications and communicate best practices to the Canada R&D.
  • Support product developers on specification initiatives to ensure speed to market.
  • Support general brand maintenance to ensure business continuity across multiple categories as needed.
  • Interact with Operations- US Business Units- Quality- Regulatory- Specification team- Sales and Marketing on an as needed basis to drive effective results.
  • Interface with all related technical experts and category scientists to maintain specifications.
  • Manage technical timelines- provide clear and timely communication- raise issues and risks- and develop contingency plans leveraging strong management skills.
  • Maintain technical documentation.
  • Be highly organized and result-driven.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience- Food Science- Food Science- Chemistry- Chemical Engineering- Life Sciences or related fields
  • 2-5 year experience in maintaining raw material- formula and product specifications and project leadership
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated problem solver and has the drive to deliver objectives in a complex environment.
  • Ability to establish contact with key positions within the company and in external network
  • Ability to inquire and solve problematic situations
  • Self-sufficient for finding adequate resources and meet expectations
  • Ability to plan- anticipate next steps and incorporate course corrections when hurdles appear
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Executional excellence- personal leadership and customer focus a must
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly
  • Assignment has possibility of an extension beyond the 6 months 
  • Requires knowledge of Agile GSM and NPD
