Description & Requirements

Position Summary

The Senior Brand Manager - Brand Build & Innovation; will be accountable for developing the platform brand strategies- creative plans- and innovation programs from idea to execution. This position owns identification of powerful consumer insights and pain points to unlock future growth- whitespace opportunities- new product concepts- impactful communications along with establishing the 5 year strategic growth roadmap. This includes broad exposure to all functional activities on the brand- including Consumer Insights- Advertising- New Products development- R&D- Operations- and Finance- resulting in strengthened marketing fundamentals and a holistic approach to driving business growth.

Key Components of the Role

  • Lead the creation and execution of the portfolio and brand’s 3-5 year platform strategy including creative communications & innovation plans for Canada.  
  • Drive strategic partnership and leadership with creative- media and PR agencies through integrated brand communications- inspiring them to deliver courageous creative and media plans that build brand love- loyalty & modernize the portfolio.
  • Bring the power of insights- analytics and brand together to deliver innovation strategies and ideas across the portfolio of brands with the aim of growing relevancy and profitable growth
  • Oversee the ideation and execution of innovation agenda to balance consumer relevance- revenue and profit targets. Manage the development of innovation and renovation plans from insight to strategy- to concept to commercialization.
  • Collaborate with Global counterparts- Brand & Category- Product and Packaging R&D- Consumer Insights- Sales- Supply Chain and Finance to deliver sustainable innovation & communications ideas to market.
  • Identify new innovation/renovation opportunities that address consumer pain points through understanding of competitive- category and consumer insights. Establish productive plans for novel ideas --- need to be comfortable with ambiguity and thrive on change.
  • Participate in building & improving strong innovation process culture through adherence to key innovation routines and rituals; Innovation Stage Gate Process- lead cross functional project teams & leadership team updates
  • Manage annual marketing & innovation spend driving tradeoffs and ongoing tracking/reporting for the platform Drive budget planning in partnership with the category team through annual planning cycle
  • Coach- engage- inspire and motivate direct report to deliver plans and drive career development growth


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business- Marketing- or related field; MBA with Marketing emphasis strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of cumulative business experience including strong Marketing experience (e.g. creation of brand plans- new product launches- providing creative direction- building and executing consumer promotions)
  • Proven experience turning new product ideas into reality- working with multiple fluid team structures which requires passion- resilience & a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Prior experience managing/understanding the P&L
  • Ability to influence leadership team- lead cross functional teams- handle simultaneous projects- and work through others
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills (gathers critical data- translates analysis of an opportunity to resulting volume and financial goals- develops POV and recommendation)
  • Outstanding verbal- written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong people leadership skills with ability to inspire and engage teams (cross functional- agency and Direct report)
