Description & Requirements

Role / Title

  • Design to Value is a new and exciting process driving unique and exploratory opportunities across our businesses intended to improve bottom line or create value for our consumers. This is a technical leadership role providing direction for and execution of projects across one or more of our North American businesses (MFC- KSB- ESA- and CAN).  The candidate will be identifying- scoping and/or driving technical projects to meet Design to Value annual goals.  This candidate should have a proven record of executing work plans and driving for results in a variety of settings- which includes understanding the business need- designing and executing tests- analyzing data- drawing conclusions- documenting- communicating results- and commercializing products.  Proven communication and teamwork skills are essential in this role- which operates in a cross-functional environment. The candidate must also have a strong technical background and be able to apply prior learning or scientific principles to new situations. This position requires an individual to manage multiple assignments/ tasks concurrently and demonstrate the ability to work autonomously a majority of the time. Exhibiting a collaborative mindset and applying innovative solutions are a must.

Key Components of the role

  • Work with cross functional teams to identify- scope and develop Design to Value opportunities
  • Strong- demonstrated ability to learn new package categories and/or processing/product areas.
  • Translate research findings into meaningful business opportunities and engage with cross-functional teams to achieve results.
  • Lead/Drive package/product commercialization working closely with cross-functional team members in production plants
  • Adapt and apply scientific principles to new situations/products and have a high degree of autonomy
  • Manage multiple assignments/research projects concurrently and possess the ability to prioritize between a variety of business initiatives
  • Specification creation and updates- with attention to detail

Qualifications:

  • BS in Packaging- Chemical Engineering- Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Packaging Development
  • 2+ years of experience in commercialization (Food experience a plus)
  • Strong understanding of package functionality and interrelationship of packaging- ingredients- and process.
  • Excellent communication- influencing- project management and problem solving skills
  • Ability to lead- coach and motivate others
  • Manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with the ability to prioritize work
  • Excellent understanding of Design of Experiments
  • Willingness to travel 20%
