Description & Requirements

About the role:

In this position you will undertake the research and development of new and existing products and processes to enable the company to meet its marketing and production objectives. Perform assigned tasks in accordance with all Heinz Food Safety- Environmental- Health and Safety and ethical and human resources policies- programs and goals while upholding the Kraft Heinz values and to work in a way that contributes to the company’s vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Project feasibility
  • Prototype development
  • New ingredient evaluation & approval product costing
  • Establishing production methods
  • Setting up of factory documentation
  • Supervision of factory trials and commercial production
  • Development of technical product information including BOMs- production methods- label information- ingredient specifications- product specifications and shelf life evaluation
  • New Product Development (NPD) - In house or Co-Pack manufacture
  • Value Engineering (VE)
  • Sensory Evaluation Tests
  • Provide support to Marketing- Manufacturing Sites and Procurement for relevant projects
  • Ensure New or Reengineered Products meet Company’s Regulatory- Quality- Legal & Safety Standards

About you:

  • Good project management- planning and organization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal- verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving- analysis and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of raw materials and ingredients.
  • Sound Understanding of Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Code.
  • Proactive- seeking out opportunities for improvement and development both personally and professionally.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or autonomously to resolve problems and improve systems.
  • Ability to deal with Ambiguity
  • Tertiary qualification (or similar) preferably in Food Science or Technology with 1-2 years of experience
  • Product development experience in the food industry with specialist technical skills- product and processing knowledge in relevant area
  • Experience building up product costing
  • Experience with use of business and production systems- Excel- Word- PowerPoint etc.
  • Experience with working through NPD stage and gate processes
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Current State Driver’s Licence
