Summary: Responsibilities & Duties

  • Responsible for coordinating work activities and operation for associated packaging lines.
  • Must be able to interface with HMI computer screens to operate equipment.
  • Employee will be accountable for line performance /OEE measurement review/recording
  • Must perform audit start-up and complete quality checks on package goods to ensure right first-time product.
  • Perform all packaging- utility- sanitation and previous pack tech responsibilities and train others as needed
  • Must be able to perform basic troubleshooting and general repairs- film changes- manage raw materials- and finished products
  • Will be responsible for calibrating scale and metal detector equipment properly.
  • Responsible for proper documentation- recordkeeping and managing paperwork for all line activities
  • Accountable for planning and execute line changes efficiently. When changing flavors- or sizes- must know which fiber to use and that the proper film is on the machines.
  • Assures that all operating equipment is in good working order. Reports any equipment issues to lead- manager- and/or Maintenance. Will need to document down time.
  • Will perform finished product quality audits at the start of each rotation.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding scheduled attainment goals per rotation.
  • Employee must be able to adapt to new technology.
  • Must run packaging machines at speeds that fall within production standards.
  • Performs all packaging code date changes prior to machine start up- at the beginning of each production run. Code dates must legible show the date and year- machine number- right or left side of the machine and be in the correct location on the bag.
  • Verify that the UPC code on every roll of film is correct and that it matches the information recorded on the label change program.
  • Completes all paperwork and correctly documents: Correct Label Log- Machine Downtime Report- Package Quality Audit- WH paperwork.
  • When changing flavors or sizes- must know which fiber- caddies and film to use for each production line.
  • Responsible for performing quality checks on finished product bags- at the start of each rotation and visually every 15 minutes.
  • Responsible for product weight checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by lead and/or management.

Knowledge- Experience- & Competencies:

  • Min of 1 year Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Operator must document any downtime log.
  • Must follow all HACCP policies.
  • Understand the production schedule and prepare the next shift for production. Must also share shift production details during the shift pass-down meeting.
  • Must follow all safety procedures and report all unsafe conditions to the lead/manager immediately.
  • Operator must be supportive of all plant and departmental goals and vision.
  • Must be constantly aware of quality and productivity environment and how quality and productivity are measured. 
  • Employee must ensure they are protecting the product quality and consumer safety. Employee must report all quality issues immediately to your lead and/or manager.
  • When necessary employee must follow 5S wet and dry cleaning.
  • Good manufacturing practices must be followed at all times.
  • House-keeping must be followed at all times. Responsible for keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Employee must perform any and all other duties that may be assigned by their lead- supervisor- and/or manager (may include but not limited to packing- cleaning- break relief- etc.).
  • Inspects and use their proper PPE and safety equipment appropriately.
  • Must support teamwork- be a team player- ability to adapt to changing demands- and must be a self-starter
