International R&D Consumer Technical Insights and Culinary Director
 

About the Position

We are looking for an inspirational- highly experienced R&D leader- who will play a strong role in further step changing our technical consumer insights agenda and culinary capability. The role is part of the International R&D Leadership Team and will report into the VP R&D International (EMEA- APAC- LATAM). 

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of CTI delivery- including definition and execution of claims and benefit strategies- and establishing holistic learning plans. Being a thought leader in defining our future consumers- and finding impactful solutions for connecting technology strategy with the future consumer needs will be key to success. The job holder will partner closely and effectively with the marketing excellence and insights teams- as well as the category leadership teams. Passion for food- products- and consumers is an absolute must to succeed in this role.

A strong external orientation- ability to build networks internally and externally- and love for doing things digital are essential elements in the profile of the suitable candidate.


Main Responsibilities

  • Leading a community of CTI professionals in NL and across our key markets and upskilling the relevant teams across the International zone
  • Owning technical insights from start to end- building deep technical insights in our strategic growth areas 
  • Building and owning claims roadmaps for core categories- driving long-term portfolio transformation​
  • Leading the technical capability as one connected team with Marketing insights​ and ensuring holistic consumer learning plans are put into place
  • Defining / upgrading relevant protocols for testing- insight generation- product and pack performance​
  • Establishing future proof methods in place for consumer validation with an ongoing scanning for new approaches
  • Driving the culinary capability and establishing the Culinary Academy
  • Driving the International Zone chef network and Best Practice- establishes culinary guidelines- benchmark creation​
  • Ensuring strong and smooth interface to regulatory- US culinary team- Growth Office heads- Foodservice and the IZ R&D Leadership Team​

Qualifications


Hard Skills

  • Strong business acumen. Ability to understand and impact across organization. Understanding of what it means to lead and create a network
  • R&D expert- 10+ years of strong track record in CTI / sensory.
  • Relevant qualifications in Food Science- Food Technology or similar
  • Ability to be able to translate the business needs into a meaningful R&D agenda.
  • Clear understanding on claims and how to tell relevant stories about products and packs
  • Ability to navigate with ease between short- mid and longer-term agendas
  • Entrepreneurial thinker with a strong can-do attitude and also methodical and organized mindset to navigate this complex and multifunctional agenda
  • Analytical and strategic thinker
  • Must have worked in FOOD and understand multinationals
  • Strong intercultural and collaboration skills- ability to work with different markets and functions
