Description & Requirements

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

In the performance of work- the incumbent is required to comply with local- state- federal safety rules and regulations and the safety policies and procedures of Heinz Frozen Food Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and specialized potato-processing equipment such as conveyors- and programmable logic controllers.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment- and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Shall have proven and demonstrated history of responsible and safe electrical work and possess a strong knowledge of NEC safety standards and other associated standards and codes.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers- motors- and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance employees- (General Maintenance- Pump Mechanics and Electronics) to diagnose malfunction.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays- switches- and motors- and positions sensing devices as appropriate or necessary.
  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components- such as printed circuit boards.
  • Reads blueprints- and all types of electrical schematics.
  • Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors as necessary or required.
  • Operates equipment to test for malfunctions- and to verify repairs. Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring- conduit- and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical- hydraulic- and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Must own and maintain the minimum required quality and quantity of personal hand tools for use on the job as instructed by your supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A: active participation in the apprenticeship program grade 10/11. Experience: Years 1&2 – Grade 10 (additional $1.50 per hour)- years 3&4 Grade 11 (additional $2.00 per hour)

B: Preferred Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school Grade 12 (additional $3.00 per hour)

C: Hold current Journeyman Electrical License from the State or Oregon or a State with license reciprocity with the State of Oregon.

  • Day Shift $36.00 per hour
  • Swing Shift $38.00 per hour
  • Grave Shift $40.00 per hour

D: Hold current Oregon State General Supervisory License (additional $3.00 per hour)

E: Local master of record. 1 position holding a current Oregon General Supervisory License to act as a liaison with the State of Oregon electrical inspectors.  Filing Electrical Inspection Requests- communications with inspectors- coordinating inspections- and signing off on electrical department testing applications plus an additional $0.50/per hour

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read- analyze- and interpret general business periodicals- professional journals- technical procedures- or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports- business correspondence- and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers- clients- customers- and the general-public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference- and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions- percentages- ratios- and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems- collects data- establish facts- and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES- LICENSES- REGISTRATIONS

Incumbent pay grade will align with the individual’s credentials.   

Incumbent must get and maintain a valid Heinz Frozen Food Company equipment operator’s license with a Lift Truck and Platform/Scissor Lift endorsement within 30 days of starting the bid.

Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license.
